Chiropractic Adjustments

Chiropractic is the science of treating the nervous system. The nervous system includes your brain, spinal cord, and nerves. Through the spinal cord and nerves, your brain communicates with every cell and tissue in your body. The nervous system is incredibly important because it controls everything in the body, including all function and healing in the body. Abnormal pressure on the nervous system is typically caused by "subluxations". Subluxations are misalignments or loss of motion in the joints of the body that put damaging pressure on the nervous system. Chiropractors are trained to detect these subluxations and remove them. Once these subluxations are removed your body is able to function at its optimal level. This is why it is not uncommon for improved immune function and for other improvements in body function that are typically not associated with a sore back or neck. The reason Chiropractic focuses on the back is because this is where your spine is located. Your spine houses the majority of your nerves. This is where your nerves are most susceptible to nerve damage and injury.

Not only is the chiropractic adjustment effective, it is completely safe. The adjustment is quick and applied with little force. The only potential side effect associated with the chiropractic adjustment is mild soreness following the treatment, which is seen occasionally. This is similar to the soreness one experiences following their first workout. Prior to your first treatment the doctor will walk you through the specifics of your chiropractic adjustment.

The specific technique that we specialize in is postural correction. Postural correction is a technique that is deeply routed in the sciences of physics and mechanics. First, postural abnormalities must be determined. This is done by performing a postural analysis and taking x-rays. Once the postural abnormalities are determined, a specific treatment plan is written to correct these abnormalities. The adjustment will be given to correct these postural abnormalities.

Our ultimate goal is to not only get you feeling better, but to give you the tools that are necessary to keep you better. This is accomplished through the chiropractic adjustment, exercise education, rehabilitative therapies, spinal supports and nutritional guidance.
